An agreement between Iran and Oman has been finalized, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei made a statement regarding the meeting planned to be held in Oman today.

Baghaei said that the agreement reached between Iran and Oman concerns the two states and that all aspects of the issue were agreed upon after weeks of discussions. According to him, this issue was supposed to be discussed at the Oman meeting.

“This was an opportunity created by Iran and Oman, and it was expected that the countries of the region would take advantage of this opportunity. If they believe that we should come together and hold a dialogue on creating a safe space in the region, away from the interference of harmful actors, this was an appropriate opportunity,” Baghaei noted.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that reports that Saudi Arabia had asked for the meeting not to be held were true.

Baghaei said that referring to Yemen in connection with the issue is misleading: “The roots of the problems in Yemen go back many years. As Iran, we have demonstrated in practice that we are ready to help, and we should not interfere with the roadmap agreed between us and you.”

He emphasized that the agreement between Iran and Oman has been finalized and that the next step will be determined based on consultations with Oman.
