Tehran-APA. An Iranian F-5 fighter jet has reportedly crashed while landing at the Omideh military base in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
The IRIAF aircraft crashed 10:00 am local time (0530 GMT) apparently due to technical problems, unofficial reports say.
Both the pilot and co-pilot have reportedly been killed in the accident.
Various Iranian aircraft have experienced malfunctions in the past years as comprehensive US sanctions against Iran have been in effect since 1995.
Under the United States Iranian Sanctions Regulation, firms worldwide cannot sell US aircraft, engines and spare parts to Iranian carriers, companies or government agencies.
Firms are also banned from providing maintenance for Iranian airliners when the installation or replacement of US-origin parts are involved.
