Baku. Ulviyye Aliyeva-APA. The United Nations has released USD seven million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for any humanitarian assistance that China might need to deal with the situation created by recent major earthquake in Sichuan, said the UN website.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson Friday, Secretary Genaral Ban Ki-moon said that the grant will be used by UN agencies, funds and programmes to assist with urgent relief efforts.
UNICEF also is readying relief supplies with an initial emphasis on health kits, tents and shelter materials, and water and sanitation supplies.
