The memorandum of understanding signed by the presidents of the United States and Iran has created conditions for ending the war, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said this in an interview with Al Jazeera television, APA reports.
“With the memorandum of understanding signed by the presidents of the United States and Iran, we have reached the stage of ending the war,” Al Thani said.
The Qatari Prime Minister noted that the preliminary agreement reached between Washington and Tehran became possible thanks to joint efforts with Pakistan, as well as regional and international support.
“The preliminary agreement between Washington and Tehran was achieved through major efforts within the framework of partnership with Pakistan and with regional and international support. The goal was to create suitable conditions for negotiations,” he said.
According to Al Thani, the main purpose of the memorandum is to end the war and lay the groundwork for future negotiations.
“Other issues discussed between the United States and Iran include Iran’s nuclear file, the status of the Strait of Hormuz, and regional security matters,” he said.
The Qatari Prime Minister added that the preliminary agreement creates an institutional framework for the continuation of future negotiations.
