Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto killed

The explosion took place today as Bhutto left a rally in Rawalpindi, near the capital, Islamabad, minutes after a speech to thousands of supporters. Bhutto suffered bullet wounds in the aftermath of the bomb attack. She was critically wounded and rushed into emergency surgery, but doctors could not save her life. 50 more people were killed during the incident. Parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Pakistan in January, 2008 is expected to be delayed after such tragedy.
The former Pakistani prime minister survived a previous dual bombing on her arrival home from eight years in exile in October, nearly 140 were killed as a result of it. /APA/
