158 delegates attended the contest in Pennsylvania, which opened the final phase of the Democratic race. Following the announcement of primaries results, the former First Lady said she wouldn’t stand away from the presidential race. "Some people counted me out and said to drop out, but the American people don’t quit and they deserve a president who doesn’t quit either," Clinton told supporters in Philadelphia. Barack Obama said he was looking ahead for the defeat in Pennsylvania and congratulated his rival. 1648 delegates supported Obama and 1509 Clinton until the primaries in Pennsylvania. The candidates need to win 2025 delegate votes for the right to face Republican John McCain in November’s presidential election. Next round of contests will take place on May 6 in North Carolina and Indiana.
