US marks 6th anniversary 9/11 September terrorist acts

September 11, 2001 attacks (often referred to as 9/11â€”pronounced "nine eleven") consisted of a series of coordinated terrorist suicide attacks. That morning nineteen terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a trained pilot. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (1 WTC and 2 WTC), resulting in the collapse of both buildings soon afterward and irreparable damage to nearby buildings. The hijackers crashed a third airliner (American Airlines Flight 77) into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft (United Airlines Flight 93) attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers;[5] that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In addition to the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died as an immediate result of the attacks, and the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to WTC dust. Another 24 people are missing and presumed dead. The victims were predominantly civilians.
In his televised appeal to public, President George Bush stressed intelligence and law enforcement officials were ordered to search and detain the organizers of the terrorist acts. On September 15 in his radio speech, President Bush announced the US would starts large-scale and long-term fight against terrorism. He called for the American people to patience and decisiveness stressing counterterrorism would not be easy and end in a short period of time. Aftermath the 9/11, the US started antiterrorism operations against al-Qaeda terrorist organization (October 7, 2001) and Taliban regime in Afghanistan and later made a military intervention in Iraq (March 20, 2003). The US armed forces are still deployed in Iraq.
130-member expert group composed of engineers and architects in the US consider the attacks against the twins in New York were organized by the US authorities deliberately. The experts conclude that the World Trade Center was exploded as a result of explosives installed at the building beforehand not just as a result of terrorist-kamikazes. According to Richard Gaydgam, member of American Institute of Architects Institute the shock in the aftermath of the attacks in September, 2001 prevented making a rational assessment of the event.
â€œWe believed the myth that the hijacked planes hit the buildings causing their collapse. Not it is clear to us that it was a professional dismantling with use of explosives. It is clear toe everyone that such an operation requires deployment of a complex mining system. It is not convincing that terrorists organized this acts taking into consideration the strong security in the WTC. Taking all these into account we arrived at a terrible conclusion: the terrorist act was plotted by circles in the US authorities,â€ the Institute member stressed. /APA/
