Ukraine’s law enforcement authorities have detained suspects behind the massive fire at an ammunition depot in the country’s Vinnytsia region, RIA Novosti cited Sergei Misyura, spokesperson for the department of development and material support of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, as saying on Wednesday.

According to him, a manhunt for subversive groups was conducted under the pretext of anti-terrorist operations in the region before the incident.

“Most of the groups have been revealed. However, not all the saboteurs were detained. Therefore, one group was able to place an explosive device on a drone. It has already confirmed that on the night of the incident a drone was functioning in the area. This is a terrorist act,” he said.

Misyura assured that most of the necessary shells for the Ukrainian army were not harmed, since they were in underground bunkers.

The fire at an ammunition depot near Kalynivka in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia region was followed by blasts. Two persons were injured. More than 30,000 people were evacuated from the area.
