Rovnag Abdullayev: “Azerbaijan will reach its total export potential 40 bcm of gas by 2025”

Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu - APA-Economics. The production at the second stage of Shahdeniz, will approximately be doubled, said the SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev in his article published in Azerbaijan newspaper.

The article says according to minimum calculations, more 16 bcmof gas will be added to 9 bcm, of gas extracted from Stage 1. Of this, 10 bcm will be transported to Europea countries, 6 bcm to turkey.

Abdullayev said that first gas will be delivered to turkey in 2018: “Basic contracts on engineering and projection, construction and supply works on Stage 2 have already been signed, even some works have been started. Within this project, 3,500 km-pipelines will be constructed from Azerbaijan to Europe”.

SOCAR president noted that if we stay at today’s reality in projection of infrastructure, we can face some technical problems in the future: “Plans on South gas corridor is not satisfied with only Shahdeniz 2. This project is main, but first chain in the perspectives of future. It’s impossible not to taken into account existing opportunities, forecast second gas wave”. We can surely say that reach of total export potential 40 bcm of gas by 2025 is real”.
