The Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that at the meeting the contributions by Azerbaijan to the NATO International Security Assistance Force were highly appreciated.
Satisfaction was expressed with the support of Azerbaijan, as one of the main, reliable and secure transit routes for ISAF operation, to NATO allied and partner states, including to the United States in transit and cargo transportation on bilateral and multilateral tracks.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan’s necessary transit support for Afghanistan operation would further be continued. He also added that Baku-Tbilisi-Qars rail-road and new Alat seaport, which are in the process of completion, will further enhance Azerbaijan’s transit and transport capacities.
General Paul Selva extending his appreciation to Azerbaijan for cooperation and support added that Azerbaijan’s favorable geographic position and developing transport infrastructure are impressive and have a great potential in terms of commerce and trade.
At the meetings the sides also exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest.
