“The supervision of environmental protection is the responsibility of the judiciary in Iran's legal system,” said the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Golam Abbas Torki during his speech at at the five-way meeting of the representatives of the Prosecutor General's Offices of the Caspian littoral states on “Environmental Violations in the Caspian Sea Aquatoria: Strategies of Prosecuting Authorities to Protect the Marine Environment” held in Baku, APA reports.
“We have come together to protect the ecological environment in the Caspian Sea basin. The supervision of environmental protection is the responsibility of the judiciary in Iran's legal system. Such events are a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the legislation of partner countries in the field of ecology. Protection of sturgeon fish in the Caspian Sea is one of the important aspects for the whole region. I very much hope that this cooperation will be useful for the protection of the ecology of the Caspian littoral countries as a whole and for the formation of a healthy environment,” - he said.
