Identities of 73 missing people and their burial places determined: Azerbaijan

Biological samples have been taken from families of more than 11,000 missing persons, Deputy Head of the working group of Azerbaijan's State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Eldar Samadov said at a press briefing of the State Commission, APA reports.

He noted that following the Great Victory achieved in the Patriotic War, the works have started on clarifying the fate of Azerbaijani citizens who have gone missing:

"Excavation works are carried out in the liberated territories and the public is informed about it. The biggest family of missing persons in Azerbaijan is the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons. The State Commission will continue its efforts for the clarification of the fates of all our missing citizens. The ICRC is providing close support to the State Commission in this field. The public will be informed about 73 missing persons today. The 73 persons were identified in two directions. One direction is the remains of bodies buried without identification found from unknown graves in different cities and districts of the republic. 13 persons have been buried without identification in Alley of Martyrs in Baku city. The identities of 3 people have been identified in the Saricali village of Aghdam district. The identities of 22 people buried in the unknown graves in the Alley of Martyrs in Ganja city have been identified. The identities of 13 people have been identified in the Alley of Martyrs in Tartar city. The identities of 4 people from the mass graves found in Edilli village of Khojavand district and 2 people from Dashalti village of Shusha district have been identified.
