Baku’s "Russian House" takes steps to cease operations

Recall that on February 11, the "Russian House" (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Baku issued a statement regarding the distribution of fake "documents" using its logo.

On February 6, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Yevgeny Primakov confirmed that he received a note from Azerbaijan regarding the necessity of registering the Russian Cultural Center in Baku, he said during a broadcast on the Rossiya-24 television channel. "It is stated there that our representative office, must be registered as a legal entity according to Russian Information and Cultural Center local legislation, known as "Rus Evi" (Russian House) among the people," Primakov emphasized. According to him, the "Russian House" in Baku must vacate the building it is renting within a month and a half: "Because the owner has announced his intention to sell the building urgently. The owner of the other building with which negotiations are underway has taken a break for now."

Azerbaijan has sent a note to Russia regarding terminating the "Russian House's" activities. The Russian Information and Cultural Center – "Russian House", which served as the representative office of "Rossotrudnichestvo" in Azerbaijan, was found to lack legal registration and to have seriously violated Azerbaijani legislation. After informing the Russian side of these violations, a note was sent on February 3, 2025, regarding terminating the "Russian House's" activities.
