Around two-thirds of the intelligence and security support currently needed by Ukraine is based on resources provided by France, French President Emmanuel Macron said during a speech at the Istres air base in southern France, APA reports.
Macron said that European weapons and defense systems supporting Ukraine have recently surpassed the share of U.S. arms. He stressed that partners should rely more on their own capabilities in modern weapons systems and reduce dependence on external partners.
Macron added that, in the short term, to maintain the security balance, Europe—and France in particular—must acquire weapons similar to Russia’s “Oreshnik” missile systems and strengthen its defense industry.
