An investigation has been launched into a possible cyberattack on the website of the Georgian government administration, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the State Security Service of Georgia.
It was noted that the decision to open the investigation was based on information received from the Government of Georgia regarding an alleged cyberattack on the administration’s website and the execution of certain manipulations. These manipulations were aimed at harming Georgia’s state interests by spreading false information in the public space, potentially leading to negative political and economic consequences for the country.
“Following the alleged criminal act, various media outlets and social networks began to cover the issue. The State Security Service responded immediately and, in order to prevent damage to state interests, advised media representatives as well as individual users to refrain from disseminating this information,” the statement said.
