"Approximately 10% of the world's population still is still hungry," co-chair of Nizami Ganjavi International Centre (NGIC), Ismail Serageldin said during the panel discussion themed "Special case of the Food and Agriculture Sector" at the 29th high-level meeting on “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future”, APA reports.

He stated that everyone is exposed to the consequences of climate change.

"Deforestation, soil erosion, desertification accelerate the process," he noted.

He said that efficient water use and conservation of water resources are another crucial moment.

"In many developing countries, even in the poorest countries, approximately 80% of water goes to agriculture. People should be taught efficient water use, and its importance should always be remembered," he stated.

Ismayil Serageldin said that food and agriculture require special attention: "If we work efficiently, these areas may not just be a part of the problem (climate change), but may be the solution to it," he added.
