US Assistant of Secretary of State: There is need to work with Azerbaijan for an alternative to export through Russia or China

“Achieving peace is not only an issue of Azerbaijan,” said Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O’Brien, APA reports.

The US assistant secretary of state said that this is also an issue for the region and Central Asia as a whole:

“All these states export to the world market either through Russia or China. They need to work with Azerbaijan for an alternative. One road passes through Georgia and the Black Sea, the other route, i.e., a potentially larger route, passes through Azerbaijan, Armenia and Türkiye. In this sense, we need a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to end the war and end this terrible conflict that has existed since 1990. This is our message: it is time for peace!"
