U.S. official: Fight against ISIL should be internationally coordinated

She said that at the time of Russia’s increasing activity in the region, the U.S. first of all is trying to prevent any military incident from happening.

“Political negotiations are underway. Last week, John Kerry met with the representatives of 18 countries including Russia to discuss the Syria issue in Vienna. The meeting resulted in the adoption of a communiqué and important agreements, according to which Syrian opposition is to find common ground and join efforts by the 1st of January.

Another thing is, opposition forces should discuss with the Assad regime the new constitution and the upcoming election.

It is expected to take place after the 1st of January and after 18 months the election will be held. The U.S. is working in this particular direction. We understand that the fight against a militant group like ISIL is a complicated fight, requiring internationally coordinated efforts. So that’s why we operate within the coalition. We are continuing our efforts within the coalition and the Vienna meetings. The horrific attacks in Paris as well as any other terrorist attack show that the fight against ISIL should be internationally coordinated,” she stressed.
