Washington –APA. A group of 61 Nobel Laureates have gotten together to endorse Barack Obama for President and his plans for the development of sciences, APA reports quoting Nature News magazine. They published a letter of endorsement and said that during the administration of George W. Bush, vital parts of the country’s scientific enterprise have been damaged by stagnant or declining federal support. The Nobel Laureates said they especially applauded Obama’s emphasis during the campaign on the power of science and technology to enhance the nation’s competitiveness.
This is the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a candidate for office, more than endorsed either Gore or Kerry. 48 Laureates supported John Kerry in 2004. Republican candidate John McCain has not announced his plans related to the sciences yet.
