US Democratic National Convention begins

Coloradoâ€“APA. The US Democratic National Convention begins on Monday in Denver, Colorado. At the convention, 4234 delegates from the Democratic Party will nominate senators Barack Obama and Josef Biden for President and Vice-President, APA reports. Obama will be the first black man to lead the democratsâ€™ election list. The convention is expected to end strife in the party. Negligible victory over the US former first lady Hillary Clinton gave Obama the chance to be nominated as a presidential candidate, but he didnâ€™t forward Clinton for Vice-President and chose Biden, who is the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The convention will also approve the Democratic Partyâ€™s pre-election program. Barack Obamaâ€™s wife Michelle, Hillary Clinton and former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and other influential democrats will join the convention. The democratic presidential candidate will be officially approved on August 27. 15 thousand journalists are expected to cover the convention.
