George Bush: I wouldn’t become president if I hadn’t quit drinking alcohol

“I doubt that I would be standing here if I hadn’t quit drinking whisky, beer, wine and all that," he said.
The president said that he took the decision to give up drinking once and irrevocably.
"I had too much to drink one night, and the next day I didn’t have any. I decided to quit and I haven’t had a drink since 1986", the president said.
“It’s a difficult thing to do, which is to kick an addiction. I wasn’t a knee-walking drunk. It was the competition that I decided just wasn’t worth it,” Bush said. /APA/
