Azeri handball squad becomes 5th in world championship

Baku. Aqshin Aliyev - Apa-Sport. The 19th world student handball championship taken place in Venecia, Italy, is over, Apa-Sport repocrts.
Azerbaijan national teams of men and women showed different results. Azeri men were 15th among 16 teams. Unlikely, Azeri women were more competitive. The team scored 6 points as a result of the games against Russia (23:26), Italy (37:19) and China (31:25) in group encounters. The squad headed by Georgi Voronov was defeated by Rumania in quarter final (26:36).
Nevertheless, the team won Chekh Republic (34:26) and Russia (31:30) in the competition for 5th-8th places. Azeri women were 5th as a result. Victoria Ulyanich was the best player to kick the penalty. She scored 21 goals out of 28 penalties (accuracy 81,48) during the championship.
