An international platform, titled "New Generation for Peace", was presented in Tbilisi, Georgia on June 21.

The main goal of the platform is to unite young people for peace in the region and in the world.

Youth from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Germany, Denmark and other European countries joined the platform.

Addressing the presentation ceremony, Georgia's Youth Representative to the United Nations Giorgi Tumasyan called the establishment of the peace platform a historic event, an APA correspondent reported from Tbilisi.

"Youth must unite regardless of national or ethnic origin for creating and preserving peace in the South Caucasus. For centuries ethnic Armenians and Azerbaijanis have been living in peace in the Georgian village of Tsopi, near the border with Armenia which shows that peace in the region is possible,” he said.

Later, representatives of Georgian, Azerbaijani and Armenian youth expressed their willingness to live in peace in a world with no conflict and readiness to support all initiatives in this direction.

At the end, a manifesto of the New Generation for Peace Platform was signed. The young people stated that they are ready for national, regional and international cooperation in the Caucasus and in the world for peace. The Manifesto states that young people can and should influence the process of confidence building among conflicting parties.

The event was attended by Georgian political scientists, representatives of European youth organizations, diplomatic representatives.
