Azerbaijan may prosecute those failing to pay unemployment insurance and compulsory social insurance

Azerbaijan may prosecute those failing to pay unemployment insurance and compulsory social insurance.

This is according to proposed draft amendments to the Criminal Code, APA reports.

According to the draft amendments, Article 213 (tax evasion) will be renamed as “Evasion from payment of taxes, unemployment insurance or compulsory social insurance.”

The same terms are also included in the article’s first paragraph, applying the existing penalties.

In the paragraph criminal liability is shown as fines from two times to four times the amount of the damage inflicted as a result of the criminal offense, correctional work for up to two years, imprisonment for up to 3 years or deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for up to 3 years.

The draft amendments will be tabled at a parliamentary meeting scheduled for April 24.
