A conference was held Wednesday over the completion of the EU Twinning project "Support to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the modernisation of its policy and management system in the culture sector".
The results of the Twinning project were announced at the closing ceremony.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said that a lot has been done in the districts within the framework of the project and studies conducted for the preservation of cultural heritage in Azerbaijan.
Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas said the project was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, with the assistance of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) within the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP).
Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari said that the development of cultural relations and partnerships contributes to the development of political issues between the countries and this project gives Azerbaijan an opportunity to transform its cultural heritage into an economic asset.
