The 5th Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit on the theme “20 Deliverables for 2020: Bringing tangible results for citizens” has kicked off in Brussels, an APA correspondent reported from Brussels.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is taking part in the summit.

President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Council Donald Tusk and Prime Minister of Estonia Jüri Ratas are also attending the event.

A final declaration will be adopted after the summit.

The last summit of the Eastern Partnership countries took place in Riga in 2015.

Launched in 2009 as a joint policy initiative, the Eastern Partnership aims to deepen and strengthen relations between the European Union (EU), its member states and its six Eastern neighbours: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
