European Union celebrates the launch of its media projects and congratulates winners of its competitions

On 14 June 2017 the European Union Delegation brought together partners and friends to celebrate the launch of its media projects, the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan told APA.

'AvropadASAN' radio programme, a joint project of the European Union Delegation, ADA University, Centre of Excellence in EU Studies of the ADA University and ASAN Radio, already had 2 editions. Broadcasted on 100 FM of ASAN Radio 'Avropadasan' is an hour long radio programme that features educational, informative and entertaining news and music from Europe. The programme includes news about the most recent trends in culture, education, travel, music in the European Union. "AvropadASAN” is also a guide to keep abreast of the European cultural events taking place in Azerbaijan. In partnership with the Embassies of the EU Member States, the programme will inform about the forthcoming concerts, exhibitions, film festivals, competitions and other festivities organized by the EU Delegation and European Embassies in Azerbaijan. "AvropadASAN” is broadcasted first and third Tuesday of each month from 18.30-19.30 and repeated every second and fourth Thursday of the month from 14:00 to 15:00.

www.SizinAvropa.az is the first Web Platform in Azerbaijani language, containing topics of culture, arts, education, intercultural dialogue, tourism, with a special emphasis on interaction and exchange between the EU/EU Member States and Azerbaijan. The Platform managed by the "United Cultures" company, aims to strengthen dialogue between the European institutions based in Azerbaijan and the local population, mainly young generations; promote cooperation in the cultural sphere; give useful information and news about European culture, study and travel opportunities, intercultural exchanges and many more. The platform, which is already on-line will be enriched every week with new content, news, videos, photo reportage, for bringing Europe closer to Azerbaijan.

During the event winners of the story and photo competitions were also awarded. Throughout the March the EU- funded ‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’ project conducted the ‘#EUaroundU – Tell your story!’ contest for young people from the Eastern Partnership countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in March. The young people wrote a personal story highlighting the impact that the EU had on their personal life or community. As a result of the competition the 1st place winner Sara Rajabli from Azerbaijan will get the opportunity to travel to Poland on 22-23 June for the forthcoming Eastern Partnership Youth Forum (all expenses paid), and 2 runners-up, Jamila Musayeva and Gunay Mirzayeva, won electronic tablets.

In May the EU Delegation conducted ‘Spot Europe in Azerbaijan’ photo competition among the adults. The participants were invited to send photos taken in Azerbaijan that show a clear connection to the EU or Europe (buildings, places, lifestyle, etc.) together with a short description of their work. Three winners were awarded with certificates and cameras of various values from the EU Delegation.
