Compared to the relevant period of last year, the number of road accidents decreased by 296 cases, the death toll – by 179 cases and the number of injured – by 247 cases.
Many of the accidents were collisions, which make up 34.2 percent of the total number of accidents. 569 collisions have left 225 people dead and 792 injured. Another 86 people were killed and 183 injured in 179 overturn accidents. 88 more people were killed 195 injured after being hit by vehicles.
During the period 659 traffic accidents resulted in pedestrian crashes, which left 235 people dead and 491 injured.
216 people died, 396 were injured in 468 traffic accidents caused by overspeed. 612 traffic accidents took place due to violation of overrunning. As a result, 238 died, 737 injured. 148 traffic accidents occurred due to violation of crossing of intersections in which 29 died, 210 were injured.
During the period 56 children died, 153 were injured in traffic accidents. Compared with the same period last year, the number of deaths in traffic accidents decreased by 18 cases and the number of injured by 21 cases.
