Rocket strikes from Caspian Sea on Syria commanded by Azerbaijani officer

Baku – APA. Caspian Flotilla Dagestan missile ship which launched rocket strikes on ISIL targets in Syria on October 7 has been reportedly commanded by Azerbaijani officer.

Commander of the Dagestan missile ship was second-rate captain Vusal Miriyev, according to Vestnik Kavkaza.

V.Miriyev was born on August 27, 1978 in Safikurd village Goranboy district. He has been serving in the Russian Armed Forces since 1996. After graduating Ushakov Baltic Naval Institute, he was sent to serve in the Caspian Flotilla. He worked as commander assistant in missile boat in 2002-2005, and commander of missile boat in 2005-2010. V.Miriyev worked as commander of Tatarstan guard ship in 2010, and after a while he was appointed commander of Dagestan missile ship. On August 13, 2013, the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan visited the ship. Miriyev is married, has 3 children.

On Oct.7, four Russian warships launched 26 rockets at Islamic State targets in Syria from the Caspian Sea.
