Valeh Amiraliyev, detained in Ukraine, had ties with group that planned to assassinate Azerbaijani president

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov - APA. Valeh Amiraliyev, who was detained at Borispol airport in Kiev, turned out to have ties with an organized criminal group that planned to assassinate the Azerbaijani president.

Gusar resident Valeh Javashir Amiraliyev, born in 1986, had close ties with Vugar Padarov who was accused of planning a series of terrorist attacks in Azerbaijan on the eve of Eurovision-2012 and plotting to kill the head of state.

V. Amiraliyev committed several grave crimes in Russia together with some members of the group led by Vugar Padarov and Samir Saniyev. In November 2011, Amiraliyev together with other group members – Ilham Gulmammadov, Faig Suleymanov and Zaur Padarov went to Azerbaijan’s Zagatala district to meet with Vugar Padarov, and held discussions on terrorism they planned to commit in Azerbaijan.

As a result of a special operation carried out by Azerbaijan's National Security Ministry in 2012, many members of the criminal group planning terrorist attacks in the country were arrested. The head of the group Vugar Padarov was killed during the operation.

The investigation revealed that Padarov and members of armed gang, had to commit terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani President during his visit to the north-west region of the country in April 2012, as well as to attack the law-enforcement bodies, explode several sanctuaries, commit explosions in the places populated most of all by the foreigners, including Hilton Baku and JW Marriot Hotel Absheron and the other hotels, as well as in Baku Crystal Hall and State Flag

Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced the head of the gang Samir Saniyev to life imprisonment and others from 9 up to 15 years in prison.

On Sept. 19, Ukrainian border guards tied in Kiev airport Azerbaijani citizen Valeh Amiraliyev, who is wanted by Interpol for terrorism, according to a report in the press-service of state frontier service of Ukraine.

He was detained while attempting to fly to Turkey, passing from Russia to Ukraine.

European champion in unarmed combat Amiraliyev, who put on Interpol’s wanted list by Russian law-enforcement bodies, was handed over to the Ukrainian policy.
