Project on Establishment of Electronic Education Network and Digital Multimedia Infrastructure for Nakhchivan State University completed - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

Baku – APA. On February 24, 2015, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Nakchivan State University (NSU) co-hosted an event dedicated to the successful completion of the Project “The Project on the Establishment of Electronic Education Network and Digital Multimedia Infrastructure for the Nakhchivan State University” conducted jointly with the KOICA and the NSU, APA reported.
The event, which marks a new phase of IT development of the university, were attended by Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Saleh Maharramov, Rector of the Nakhchivan State University, Choi Suk-Inn, Korea’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Hong Yong Hye, the Director of the Dongwon Company of the South Korea, Kim Eun-Suk, the Resident Representative of KOICA Office of Azerbaijan and other government officials from the relevant bodies, education and IT experts. During the official part of the ceremony, the guests were informed about the project and its benefits. Afterwards, the participants took a brief tour to the newly established lecture and exam rooms, where they received additional information on the project scale.
In his opening speech Vasif Talibov, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, noted that they celebrate the establishment and inauguration of the new system, expressed his gratitude to University professors for successful implementation of the project and the Korean Government for all work done within the project. He also emphasized the importance of education in human resource development. The Chairman mentioned that recently the NSU took first place in the rankings of the "Education policy initiatives" which was conducted by the Ministry of Education. He added that currently the NSU is cooperating with more than 80 foreign universities and 360 foreign students including Korean students are studying in the University.
The chairman gave brief information about the project, noted that the Grant Agreement on the Project “Establishment of Electronic Education Network and Digital Multimedia Infrastructure for Nakhchivan State University” was signed in 2013 between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea. He stressed out the important role of the KOICA in implementation of the project and noted that the system will better the quality of education. In his speech, the chairman thanked the Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan and KOICA for their activities in Azerbaijan.
The Rector Prof. Salek Maharramov welcomed the guests and hailed cooperation with the Republic of Korea in the fields of science and education. Mr. Maharramov highlighted the university`s relations with foreign universities, especially with Korean Kimchong, Degu and Busan Kyungsang University. He noted that the centers for Korean culture and language studies have been created in the University. Mr. Maharramov congratulated the University management and professor for successful completion of the project and talked about effectiveness of the project.
In his turn, the Korean ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Choi Suk Inn expressed his pleasure on successful implementation of the project, emphasized the importance of education in socio-economic development, stressed that this development cooperation project is very significant and meaningful for both Korea and Azerbaijan because Nakhchivan is located in the area of great interest and cherished his hopes on further development of Korean-Azerbaijani relations, especially on educational sphere. He also mentioned that the project is part of the Korean government initiative to share Korea’s development experience and know-how with Azerbaijan. The ambassador expressed his gratitude to Mr. Vasif Talibov for his support to the project.
The Director of the Dongwon Company, Hong Yong Hye emphasized the benefits of the project and mentioned about the role the e-learning system.
The Project “Establishment of Electronic Education Network and Digital Multimedia Infrastructure for Nakhchivan State University” with the budget of USD 3.5 million and aimed at establishing the electronic education network, which includes portal, e-Learning, academic affairs, e-Library, etc., for improving the administration efficiency and providing the online educational service for students, improving the digital multimedia infrastructure by implementing the up-to-date ICT equipments, contributing to the human resource development of Azerbaijan and promote ICT competencies by sharing the know-how of Korean technology and development experience.
The KOICA has organized two fellowship programs for the managers and staff of the NSU within the framework of the project. The main goals of these fellowship programs is to enhance managers’ and staffs’ know-how on management of the Education Information Systems of Nakhchivan State University and to study the advanced University Education Information Systems of Korea through case study and to contribute to mutual cooperation between Korea and Azerbaijan.
