US Senate confirms Robert Cekuta as ambassador to Azerbaijan

Baku. Rufat Ahmadzada – APA. At the hearings held on December 16, the U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of Robert Francis Cekuta to the post of ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The Senate also confirmed Richard Mills as ambassador to Armenia.

U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick congratulated the confirmation of new ambassadors to Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“I congratulate the confirmation of our new ambassadors to Azerbaijan and Armenia. Both are career diplomats and our very best,” he wrote on his Twitter.

In the 1990s, Richard Mills headed the department on Azerbaijan and Armenia at the US State Department.

The hearings were chaired by Senator Harry Reid.

US President Barack Obama nominated Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy, Robert Francis Cekuta to a key administration post as the Ambassador to Azerbaijan on July 8.
