In his interview to AFP, Juneyd Hemo, a young Kurdish refugee from Syria to Turkey, spoke about an Azerbaijani IS member, approximately at 20s, being taken captive, APA reports citing Agence France-Presse.
According to Juneyd, the fighter was taken to a mosque as he was captured during fighting in the west of Kobane.
“They talked with him, trying to change his mind. But he insisted that we are disbelievers and that they are trying to direct us to the true path of Islam. He was nearly at 20s. He was speaking Arabic. He said he had come from Azerbaijan to liberate these lands from the disbelievers. He was repeatedly asking us to kill him as he believed he would go to Paradise”.
Juneyd added that the Azerbaijani youngster was patient during the questioning and only asked for his killing. When the talk went long, the Kurdish fighters shot him in the head.
There’s no additional information on the Azerbaijani fighter.
