Court passes judgment on Togrul Narimanbekovâ€™s burial in France

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. French court has passed a decision on the place of the burial of the Azerbaijani People's Artist Togrul Narimanbekov. His daughter Asmar Narimanbekova told APA that the court sustained the appeal of Togrul Narimanbekov’s wife and passed a decision on his burial in Paris. Asmar Narimanbekova said that she does not agree to the decision, and will file an appeal against it.

“My father’s body will be cremated as his wife wished. She told the court that my father was not Muslim, he was Catholic and should be cremated and buried as a Catholic. However, this is not true, my father was Muslim. I want him to be buried in Azerbaijan.”

Asmar Narimanbekova said that his father's death was kept secret for a week and this is a criminal fact according to the French law: “Sevil Narimanbekova stated that she wants to bury her husband in the center of Paris. However, according to case documents, she is going to bury my father in Saint-Léon (Paris' 93rd arrondissement).” Asmar Narimanbekova is going to appeal against the court's decision.

The laureate of the USSR State Prize and People's Artist of Azerbaijan, individual pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Togrul Narimanbekov died at 83 on June 7. The second wife of the deceased wanted him to be buried in France. However, his daughter Asmar Narimanbekova opposed it. She demanded to bury her father in Azerbaijan and appealed to the French court in this regard.
