Baku. Vusal Nabiyev – APA-Economics. In January-February, 2015, 9.1 mln tonnes of cargo and 53.8 mln of passengers were transported through Azerbaijan’s part of Silk Road transportation corridor, appropriately up 1.6% and 7.9% from previous year, the State Statistical Committee told APA.
4.9 mln tonnes or 54.1% of cargos were transported via motor transport, 2.8 mln tonnes or 31% - via railway traffic and 1.3 mln tonnes or 14.9% - via sea traffic.
“Profit from freight traffic accounted for AZN 83.9 mln, passenger transportation – 19.9 mln. These indicators respectively increased by 8.6% and 14.7% over the last year.”
