Person accused of fraud extradited from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan

A person accused of fraud has been extradited from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office told APA.

It was reported that, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan made a decision on the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Adalat Farman Mustafayev in accordance with the requirements of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters dated October 7, 2002.

Thus, as reasonable suspicions were established that Adalat Mustafayev had committed fraud as part of a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, causing significant damage, within a criminal case under preliminary investigation by the Khazar District Police Department of Baku, a decision was made to charge him as an accused person, and he was placed on the international wanted list after evading the investigation and going into hiding.

Adalat Mustafayev was detained in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and brought to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.

The Prosecutor General's Office will continue its close cooperation with foreign partner agencies, including Interpol, in identifying internationally wanted persons and extraditing them to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
