NATO values the relations with South Caucasus countries, Julianne Smith, US Ambassador to NATO said at the online briefing, APA reports.

The ambassador recalled the visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to South Caucasus a short time ago.

According to the diplomat, NATO has unique relations with South Caucasus countries.

Julianne Smith also underscored the relations between Georgia and NATO. She noted that the Alliance considers the will of Georgia to be member of the bloc.

“The other two countries – Azerbaijan and Armenia also have partnership with NATO and they look for the opportunities in order to deepen the relations. Obviously, not every country is looking for the membership opportunity to NATO, but they are hashing out the cooperation options in the fight with mutual threats and dangers. NATO considers the cooperation with these countries.”

Julianna Smith pointed out that the discussion of the results of the NATO Secretary General's visit to the South Caucasus region is not on the agenda of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, but this issue can be touched upon in the discussions.
