Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General: We support cooperation of Caspian littoral states to solve environmental problems of Caspian Sea

“The works are underway in the direction of the sanitating of the environment, restoring and augmenting of the greenings, ensuring efficient utilization of the water reserves and sustainable energy sources,” said Kamran Aliyev, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan at the five-way meeting of the representatives of the Prosecutor General's Offices of the Caspian littoral states on “Environmental Violations in the Caspian Sea Aquatoria: Strategies of Prosecuting Authorities to Protect the Marine Environment” held in Baku, APA reports.

He noted Azerbaijan will host 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29 from November 11 to 24 of current year which is a result of the successful state policy in the field of environment and ecology: “It is a prideful matter that within the framework of this prestigious event, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan plans to organize a session dedicated to the mobilization of law enforcement agencies in climate action. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan supports the cooperation among the Caspian littoral states to solve environmental problems of the Caspian Sea.”

K. Aliyev underlined that the Caspian Sea is the mutual value of the Caspian littoral states, and it has played historic role in the development of these nations. He noted that it is moral duty to preserve the nature and biodiversity of the Caspian Sea and pass it on to future generations: “"I am sure that the mutual discussions that will be held today will be useful in terms of environmental protection in our region, especially in terms of strengthening measures to fight against crime, and will serve to strengthen future cooperation in this field."
