The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammafov spoke about the role of Garegin Nzhdeh and his racist ideology in the ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis at the hearing held at the International Court of Justice based on Armenia's preliminary objections in the “Azerbaijan v. Armenia" case, APA reports.
Elnur Mammadov brought to the attention of the judges of the International Court of Justice that during the occupation, Armenia was ruled by a party that declared itself to be an ideological follower of Nzhdeh and that its teachings are kept alive today at the official level and adopted by various Armenian fascist groups.
“During the occupation period, Armenia was managed by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). RPA is a loyal follower of the “Tseghachronism” ideology and idealizes its founder Garegin Nzhdeh. Even today ERP proudly declares that it is the ideological and political successor of the "Tseghakronism" profession and the National United Party.” Elnur Mammadov emphasized.
The Deputy Minister noted that the ideological basis of the RPA is Nzdeh's instructions: "It is noted in these instructions that 'being a strong and Aryan people means not yielding to death for the sake of its existence' and 'Tsegakronism' demands adherence to racial bloodlines and is against mixed marriages."
Elnur Mammadov underscored that Nzhdeh's instructions also encouraged the occupation. He brought to the attention of the court several quotes from the ideology of “Tseghakronism": “Modern Armenia covers only 1/19th of our (Armenians') historical homeland… I am a “Tseghakron" and I must defeat the enemy of my race, the Turks,” noted in the quote.
Elnur Mammadov also emphasized that Nzhdeh remains a national hero in Armenia today. He noted that the President of Armenia opened one of the monuments prepared in his honor in 2016.
