A growing concern nowadays is the fact that different individuals take advantage of impunity and register on social networking sites under fake names to post offensive remarks as well as audios and videos about others in order to degrade them and damage their business reputation, reads the 2017 annual report of Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson), APA reports.

According to the report, with the exception of cases prescribed by law, the aforementioned acts are prohibited and information technologies cannot be used to disclose information about someone’s personal life, faith, religious or ethnic identity.

“Thus the use of information technologies and social networking sites need to be restricted in order to shield citizens from others invading their privacy and to defend their honor and dignity in a more effective way,” the reports reads.
