Traffic to be restricted in Baku for 2018 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix

In order to ensure the safe conduct of 2018 Formula-1 Grand Prix to be held in Baku, traffic on some central streets of the capital will be restricted.

Traffic restrictions will continue from the night of April 22-23 until the event ends, at crossroads and roads intersecting with the race route, head of PR department of the Baku City Main Police Office, Vagif Asadov told APA.

Traffic movement is to be restricted on the Azadlig Square, along Baku’s seaside boulevard, Pushkin, Khagani, Bulbul streets, Zarifa Aliyeva Avenue, Rasul Rza street, Neftchilar Avenue, Aziz aliyev street, Gosha Gala gapisi-Ganjlar Square, Istiglaliyyat street, Niyazi street, Azneft Square, Neftchilar Avenue, and on roads intersecting with the mentioned street and avenues.

Drivers are advised to use alternative roads – from 14 km of Baku-Salyan highway through the third ring road and Yasamal district; from the direction of Mikail Mushfig street, Matbuat Avenue from 20th zone circle through Badamdar settlement and from Bayil settlement through Teymur Elchin and Mehdi Huseyn streets.

Instead of driving in the direction of the Flag Square, Bayil and 20th area settlements through Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft circle, southward, drivers are recommended to use the Afiyeddin Jalilov – Yusif Safarov, Yusif Safarov – 28 May street junctions, Bakikhanov, Nariman Narimanov, Inshaatchilar, Huseyn Javid, Parliament, Mikayil Mushfiq, Matbuat, and Ziya Bunyadov avenues in order not to cause traffic jam.

Drivers are recommended to make least possible use of personal cars and instead use public transportation.
