Turkmenistan's foreign policy is based upon neutrality, peacekeeping and friendly neighborhood,” Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mekan Ishanguliyev said at a press conference in Baku on the occasion of December 12 - International Day of Neutrality, APA reported.

He said the initiative to celebrate this day was put forward by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

"Turkmenistan has voluntarily committed itself to not intervening in internal affairs of other countries, as well as not participating in conflicts, joining military alliances or blocks, and waging a war. Peacekeeping and respect for cultures and traditions of other nations are the main principles of neutrality, which is reflected in Turkmenistan’s foreign policy and diplomacy,” noted the diplomat.

Turkmenistan develops international relations and expands constructive dialogue with international organizations both in bilateral format and internationally, added Ishanguliyev.
