The sale of tobacco products (cigarettes) to minors and their involvement in tobacco trade will be prohibited in Azerbaijan.
In all points of sale, an identity card will be required in sale of tobacco products to specify the age limit.
According to Article 13 of the new bill on restriction on the use of products, the sale of tobacco products to minors, purchase of tobacco products by minors, or giving tobacco products to them, as well as involvement of children in the process of tobacco consumption through offering or demanding from them the use of tobacco products by any means are prohibited.
The article also shows that in case the person (seller) who is directly involved in selling tobacco products is suspicious of the buyer having reached adulthood must require him to show an identity card proving his age. The list of documents will be determined by the concerned executive power.
The article also emphasizes that the seller is obliged to refuse to sell the tobacco product to the buyer who does not show an identity card proving his age.
In the end, the article notes that persons who have not reached adulthood are forbidden from using tobacco products.
