The wrestling can not be excluded from the Olympic Games, said the Minister of Youths and Sport Azad Rahimov commenting on Iranian Minister of Sport and Youths Mohammad Abbasi’s proposal on mobilizing energy of Azerbaijan and Iran for non-exclusion of the wrestling from the Olympic Games.
The Minister says several countries applied to Azerbaijan on this issue: “Iran, Russia and the US have sent letters to Azerbaijan in the level of Ministries, Federations and Olympic Committees for non-exclusion of wrestling from Olympic Games. Azerbaijan supports saving the wrestling as an Olympic game and is ready to take steps in this direction. The wrestling is very important for Azerbaijan because this is our historical type of sport”.
