US Charge d'Affaires: We pleased to cooperate with Azerbaijan on combating human trafficking

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloghlu – APA. The Azerbaijani government has done important works toward protection of victims of human trafficking. Civil society organizations also support victims of human trafficking.

Charge d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan Dereck Hogan said Nov. 20 at the signing ceremony of the Declaration on the cooperation in combating human trafficking and supporting this combat in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Hogan said he had visited asylums in Baku and Ganja where human trafficking victims shared their opinions with him.

“Human trafficking victims expressed gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for its support. Thus, we are pleased to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the field of combating human trafficking. We have provided assistance to 3 asylums for 482 victims up to now. We will continue to cooperate in combating human trafficking,” he noted.
