Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor: 43 persons instituted criminal proceedings over corruption in Armed Forces

Valiyev said the military prosecutor’s office, taking necessary anti-corruption measures, completed the investigation of 30 criminal cases on 43 persons and sent them to military courts for consideration, up 37% from previous year.

Valiyev said the prosecutor’s office bears more responsibility for fulfillment of tasks set by the Azerbaijani president to fight against corruption and strengthen public control.

Valiyev also noted that military prosecuting agencies have provided reimbursement of 90.7% of financial loss of legal entities and individuals incurred from crimes.

In the first half of 2014, a lot of grave, complicated crimes were revealed by prosecuting agencies and investigation of several crimes were completed, and control were strengthened over the improvement of initial investigation, exact compliance with requirements of valid crime-procedural legislation.

During the reporting period, investigation on several crimes related to misappropriation of state-owned property has been completed and perpetrators were instituted criminal proceedings. 21 persons were detained and brought to investigation.
