“The relations between our two countries is not just ordinary relations, they are extraordinary relations. We consider Azerbaijan an important country in this region, not only in this region but among Muslim states,” the Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, Saeed Khan Mohmand said in an interview to ONA news agency.
The diplomat noted that the two countries have great cooperation: “Now, we are seeing an increase in trade and economic activity. Of course, we have very vibrant and active defense cooperation with Azerbaijan. So, the leadership of the two countries has great respect for each other. They have a lot of goodwill toward each other, not just at the leadership level but at the official level and the people to people contact. We see this in figures, during the last two years the number of tourists coming from Pakistan has increased from three thousand eight hundred in 2016 to more than 30000 last year (2018). So, when tourists go there, that is a great people-to-people contact, they understand each other better”.
Mr. Ambassador said his country wants to increase trade and people to people contact, regional economic activity, integration. “We also have, as you know parliamentary friendship groups in our two parliaments. So, all these are things which have given a really solid foundation for further strengthening of our relationship.”
