The next trial in the criminal case of Rashid Beglaryan, who is accused of being a participant in the Khojaly massacre, was held, APA reports.
Today, investigation documents were unvelied at the meeting chaired by the judge of the Fuzuli Military Court, Ali Suleymanov, at the Sabunchu District Court. During Beglaryan’s investigation, interesting points were revealed. It turned out that nearly 2 million euros from the Republic of France were transferred to his accounts. According to his claim, some individuals living in France donated that money to help him.
Judge A. Suleymanov asked why such amount of money was donated to him.
Accused R. Beglaryan said that these funds were sent for the purpose of aid.
He said that although he was in the city during the events of Khojaly, he was not a participant.
The prosecutor said to the accused Rashid Beglaryan that there were contradictions in his statements and asked the reason.
R. Beglaryan said that he was not a participant in the events he talked about, and that he knew everything from what Sego Dolukhanyan said.
He confirmed his testimony in court.
The prosecutor asked how he knew such accurate information about the mass grave when he was not a participant.
R. Beglerian said that Sego Dolukhanyan showed him the location of where people were buried from afar: “Sego showed the location where he buried people in 1995 when he was on Askaran road. I showed it to the investigator too."
The court asked Rashid Beglaryan whether he considered the events of Khojaly as genocide or not. He replied: "Why are you asking me? The events that took place there were something like genocide. It's bad for me. I accept that what happened in Khojaly are genocide".
Note that on August 1st of last year, Armenian citizen Rashid Begleryan, was detained by Azerbaijani State Border Service military personnel during violating the state border in the territory of the Zabukh village of the Lachin district of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border.
According to the information released by the State Security Service, Rashid Beglaryan is suspected of being involved in various serious crimes, including torture against Azerbaijani prisoners of war and other individuals protected by international humanitarian law who were detained in children's hospital No. 3 located in Khankandi city with restrictions on their freedom, as well as committing other serious criminal acts, such as war crimes and crimes against peace and humanity, as well as participating in other forms of activity related to the illegal Armenian armed groups.
He is accused under 103, 107, 109, 112, 113, 115.2, 116.0.1, 116.0.6, 116.0.8, 116.0.10, 116.0.11, 116.0.16, 318.1 , and Part 3 of Article 70.2 of the Criminal Code, as well as Part 1 of Article 220 of the Criminal Code, which was in force until September 1, 2000.
