Azerbaijan sentences hacker arrested in State Security Service operation

The final court hearing was held in the criminal case against Tural Aliyev, the executive director of "Zeromap" LLC, who was arrested as a result of an operation conducted by the State Security Service and is accused of creating programs that remotely infiltrate mobile phones and other technical devices, as well as illegally obtaining computer data, APA reports.

Today, at the Yasamal District Court, chaired by Judge Rashad Javadzade, the defense lawyer of the accused Tural Aliyev requested the court to consider his confessions, marital status, participation in state-important works, and to issue a fair decision, to impose a sentence that does not involve imprisonment.

In his final statement, Tural Aliyev asked the court to deliver a fair verdict.

The court went into deliberation to make a decision.

After returning from deliberation, the judge announced the verdict.

According to the verdict, the accused Tural Aliyev was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Note that Tural Aliyev was detained as a result of an operation carried out by the State Security Service.

The accused was charged under Articles 271.2.1 (illegal access to a computer system), 272.2.1 (illegal acquisition of computer data), and 273-1.1 (circulation of tools prepared for committing cybercrimes) of the Criminal Code.

The indictment states that the accused interfered with the mobile phones and computer systems of local and foreign individuals and legal entities for 4 years.

In addition, as a result of cyberattacks, Tural obtained access to non-public information of foreign companies.
