During the months of January-May of this year, 828,028.848 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances removed from illegal circulation are valued at AZN 79 million 400,000 thousand, APA reports citing the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Drugs.
According to the information, 2934 individuals have been prosecuted for crimes related to the illegal trafficking of narcotics. Among them, 1 person is aged between 16-18, 226 persons are aged between 18-25, 467 persons are aged between 26-29, and 2240 persons are aged 30 and above. Out of these individuals, 2843 are male, and 91 are female. Additionally, 31 of the prosecuted individuals are foreign nationals.
A total of 99 kg, 593,615 g of various types of narcotics and psychotropic substances were seized from foreign citizens.
Law enforcement agencies have uncovered 86 cases of smuggling narcotics and psychotropic substances into the country. In accordance with those facts, a total of 866,327.179 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances and 9190 units of methadone have been seized from illegal trafficking.
